Body ballet is a unique fitness discipline that combines elements of classical ballet and modern workouts, providing not only physical fitness but also emotional enrichment. This style of training is gaining increasing popularity due to its ability to strengthen muscles, improve posture and flexibility, as well as develop inner harmony. Body ballet is suitable for people of all ages who want to feel stronger and more confident in their own bodies.
We are excited to introduce the new body ballet instructor at our studio – Tamara. She is an energetic and inspiring professional who will guide you through every workout with attention to detail and a personalized approach. Tamara has answered a few helpful questions about her practice and what you can expect from training with her.
- What inspired you to become a body ballet instructor?
The magic of ballet has excited me since I was a child. The graceful and elegant forms of ballerinas, their lightness in movements, and at the same time their strong and elongated muscles are part of this ballet magic. Using elements from ballet positions and exercises turns a workout into a form of art. After consistent training, I noticed a significant change in my physique, posture, and grace. That’s when I realized this is what I want to do – to share my accumulated experience with other women so they can discover their own grace and confidence.
- What is your experience in ballet and fitness before you started teaching?
I trained ballet as a child and have been training fitness and modern dance for many years. I am also a certified Pilates instructor.
- What are the main principles of ballet that you apply in your classes?
For me, the most important thing is to teach the correct positioning in different poses. The body’s movements in space and the gracefulness in execution.
- How do you structure a body ballet workout for beginners?
A proper warm-up for the joints, full-body warm-up, choosing the main muscle group to focus on, and finishing with appropriate stretching.
- Which muscle groups are most targeted in body ballet?
The best thing about body ballet is that all muscle groups are engaged, and we focus on different ones in each class. We emphasize adductors, glutes, side and back thighs, abdominal muscles, and back muscles. The arm muscles are also constantly engaged, becoming elongated and refined.
- How do you adapt exercises for people with different fitness levels?
Depending on each person’s abilities, I modify or offer other suitable exercises if someone is facing difficulty.
- What are some common mistakes beginners make, and how do you help them correct them?
The main mistake is incorrect positioning in the poses, which leads to ineffective execution of exercises.
- What advice would you give to people who have never done ballet but want to try it?
My advice is to dive in boldly. Body ballet is suitable for everyone and has a huge positive impact on the body; it just requires consistency.
- Do you use any additional equipment or accessories in your workouts?
We use blocks and sometimes resistance bands.
- What is your biggest professional goal as a body ballet instructor?
My greatest goal is for every woman who attends my classes to see a real, positive change in her physique, posture, and grace.
